Vestry Report

As the Vestry (Trinity’s “board of directors”) meets well after the monthly newsletter deadline, our report of the March 24th meeting finally reaches you now. Items as of March included:

• Stewardship/Treasurer: While we remain in a cautious stance, with the help of additional donations from the second appeal (thanks to all who responded, whether or not you could give more at this time), supplemented by prior year surpluses, we are beginning to close the 2009 budget gap. Structural problems remain for 2010. • Rector Search: On schedule with Vestry interviews anticipated for late May and a call sometime in June, God willing. • Rummage Sale: The next rummage sale needs to be sponsored by all the People of Trinity (not just Outreach) and planning to include all interested and affected groups.

• WiFi on campus: More coverage coming soon—thanks to the Vestry tech squad! • Radical Welcome: The former Membership Commission was disbanded and the Welcoming & Connecting Commission established in its place. Authorized formation of an Area Ministry Advisory Group to get up to speed on our bishop’s vision and its implications for Trinity.

• Vestry/Parish Goals: We discussed the need to add an outward, mission-focused goal and planned further discussion in April.

Vestry meetings are public, so join us if you will at 7 pm every 4th Tuesday.

SIMPLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL WHO SEEK TO FOLLOW CHRIST

SIMPLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL WHO SEEK TO FOLLOW CHRIST

FOOD INGATHERING:
Every Sunday, bring non-perishable food and place it in baskets at the Baptismal Font. The baskets will be brought forward as part of our offering and blessed at the altar. It will be taken to the Ecumenical Hunger Program on Monday. Make it a family practice to add food items to your grocery cart every time you shop.

5th SATURDAY LUNCHES: Help cook and serve at the Saturday lunches at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Palo Alto; Trinity Parish is responsible for every 5th Saturday [March 31 is our next turn]. See the Outreach article on p. 12 for more information.

SUNDAY BREAKING BREAD MEAL TEAM: Sign up to serve the hot meal on one or more of the Sundays when we host the Breaking Bread Meals in Trinity Hall. Sunday March 22 – full; Sunday; May 31- 4 places left; Sunday August 9 – 4 places left; Sunday October 18- 4 places left; Sunday December 27 – 5 places

No experience needed! Sign up once. Just come with an open heart and willing hands. Each team does the cooking, serving and clean up and is supervised by our InnVision coordinator. Space is limited so sign up now with Frannie at 326-2083 or revfhk@aol.com. The hours are 12:30-4:30 pm, but can be flexible.

It is a chance to participate in the wonderful warmth of a Breaking Bread Meal for those in need. Parents may supervise their children and give them a chance to help too. Children 8 and older can be in the kitchen. Children younger than 8 have plenty to do in Trinity Hall setting tables, pouring drinks and serving goodies and serving the meal family style. Jesus said, “When two or three are gathered in my name, I will be there.” He is there in those meals!
